Hampton, VA, April 2007 - Pressure Systems, Inc., has added a wireless compatible model to its comprehensive waterMONITOR line of KPSI Transducers.    This new waterMONITOR is uniquely configured for environments where the transducer is permanently installed and used with wireless transmitters to broadcast data.  Available in two versions, the 552 and 553, these waterMONITORs are powered via a factory-attached cable assembly that can be connected to the DC voltage source used by the wireless equipment, thus eliminating the need for an on-board battery and its periodic replacement.  This feature enables a variety of power options, including solar energy, solar with DC back-up, AC with DC back-up and others requiring little, if any, field maintenance.

Remote configuration and wireless broadcast of data, such as water level (or pressure), temperature and atmospheric pressure, are becoming more common with advancements in wireless and broadband technology.  The new waterMONITOR’s rugged design and high reliability are ideally suited to wireless applications in remote or difficult-to-access locations.  Utilization of external power eliminates the need for a battery-conserving “sleep mode” and enables the transducer’s ability to constantly broadcast data.  New software also provides real-time monitoring of the power source.

The waterMONITOR’s cable assembly sends and receives data using an RS-485 interface with SDI-12 protocol.  For embedded datalogging, model 552 offers 2Mb on-board memory and model 553 has 4Mb of memory.  User-programmable sampling rates are as high as 15 readings per second and both models can also sample and log temperature.  Full-scale, total error band accuracy is standard with +/- 0.05% at levels greater than 10 feet, making these transducers ideal for high accuracy measurement of environmental water resources.  Both models are available with stainless steel or titanium housings and can accommodate level ranges from 10-692 ft. H20 (3-210 m H20).

A variety of software programs are available free of charge to support the waterMONITOR Series.  K-ware is a sophisticated program that includes advanced playback and barometric compensation functions, and facilitates wireless communication with units in the field.  K-ware Desktop is a user-friendly version designed for Windows®-based personal computers and features an intuitive graphical user interface.  Its companion program, K-ware Mobile, is designed for field use on personal digital assistants, such as Pressure Systems’ dataMONITOR.
